Computer Friendly Tips

Computer Friendly Tips

A more enjoyable computer lifestyle is possible by adjusting your computing habits. These PC tips will help you find out what the best solutions to common problems are. Many of the tips deal with making computing a more comfortable experience. We're not responsible for any problems as a result of using these computer tips.

Aching wrists can be caused from resting the "heel" of your palm on a hard surface while operating your mouse for an extended duration. A mouse pad with a gel wrist support has worked very well for me and has certainly made my long term computing sessions much more enjoyable. The gel pad keeps your hand in a more upright position while redistributing the pressure points within the soft gel. There are also keyboard wrist supports available for the heavy duty typist.

Headaches & eye fatigue may be caused from staring at your monitor for a long period of time. I am not a Doctor these are merely suggestions...
  • lower the contrast and brightness settings of your monitor to reduce the bright glare effect of white screens.
  • increase the size of the text you are reading, purchase a larger monitor, or reduce your screen to a lower resolution as described in the previous page.
  • purchase anti-glare/anti-radiation screens that you place over your monitor that help to protect you from radiation and glare.
  • occasionally take a break away from your computer to walk around in the real world. If you're at home - do those agonizing little chores like taking the garbage out. If you're in the office - try to work away from your computer if possible. Don't start using these breaks to start raiding the fridge or you might create another problem ; )
Your computer chair is your throne and it's the very "foundation" of computing. An inexpensive, uncomfortable, and hard as a rock chair will leave you scolding yourself for being so cheap. A beautiful expensive computer without a good chair is like a sleek sports car with a bench for a seat.

Power spikes can destroy your computer. Tip the odds in your favor with a high quality computer-specific power bar. It is a must to suppress these dangerous spikes of electricity. I prefer the flat under monitor units that give you individual buttons for each peripheral and provide lightning protection as well. In essence, the unit will sacrifice itself to save your PC.

Printer ink expenses can add up to ridiculous amounts if you do not find a bulk supplier with reduced prices. Even better are the ink-refill kits that are available for many types of cartridges. Certainly worth making sure the printer you buy has cartridges that can be refilled.
